Helping a Private School Look the Part Among Potomac’s Top Schools

Website Success

The Diener School is a private multi-sensory school located in Bethesda, Maryland. The school brings in students from Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. They teach grades K-8th grade.

The Challenge

I had designed and developed their previous website in 2020 when they were sharing their location with a local Elementary School. Now six years later (how time flies), The Diener School was moving into its own building and increasing its capacity. It was time for the website to share its quality of teaching, growth plans, and new location.  I knew the current look was too “cute” and “colorful”. Time for the website to do a bit of growing up.

What We Did

I say “what we did” because in order to come up with a successful strategy, the initial conversations are very important. We, the Head of the School, administrative staff, and department heads, spent hours on video calls discussing their current and future goals, what they like and dislike about their current website, their interactions with current and future families, and what they hope the website will do to help them meet their said goals before any design started.

Visually, the website needed to convey a more sophisticated look to stand shoulder to shoulder with other private schools in the area. As well as a big move, the school also received a very high accreditation worth noting. The updated messaging would help to share their new mission and teaching goals to current families, and visitors would be able to find the information they were looking for easily and quickly.

The Results

The school has seen a large increase in applicants for the school. The admissions process has been much easier to track applicants and receive all of the potential students’ information without so many emails and calls. It is an exciting time for the school as they continue to support their current families and seek out new future students.
